People often question the concept of an ideal work-life balance. However, I believe this is a man-made idea. Life simply is; we live it, and there is no need for “work-life balance.” One just has to live a life that feels whole. If you are a conscious human being, you’ll naturally take care of yourself, pursue your passions, and create a balanced existence.
I often ask, why is there no weekend during Ramadan? Why is the Fajr prayer not optional on Sundays? Birds are active every day—if you want to call it work—but they simply exist in harmony with the world around them.
Most of the time, we see people unhappy in jobs they dislike, needing breaks to cope. For them, work-life balance is a way to justify stepping away from something unfulfilling. But when we’re doing something we love—like watching movies or playing, as kids do—do we ask for breaks? Do kids ever tire of play or think of finding balance by “doing nothing”?
This residency in Lahore is designed with this idea in mind. It has three layers: a personal room, a shared common area for guests, and a third space dedicated to work, whether for a team or individual pursuits. There’s also a small kitchen nearby, allowing life to flow in perfect harmony.
