A model to live life

I am often thinking of a model of life that, in my view, is closer to my nature. In my model, life has a quality; every day and moment has a taste that you love to have.

In today’s world, we are mostly consumed in doing things that don’t offer that quality. Instead, we do it to earn money, always waiting for the escape, holidays. We are made to think like a machine that has to be productive most of the year and then is given a short break to also ‘live’ life.

In my model, we simply live without the modern-day productivity drill or the chase of a career goal that is hardly attained and often keeps us depressed. In contrast, I have a model that advocates hyper productivity without causing depression: finding meaning and purpose in what you do in alignment with your personality. Once you figure that out, you become productive while still living every moment wholly.

First and foremost: there is no career, no final destination, and nothing to chase. If you are alive, you are there, sit back, relax, have tea, look around, and appreciate it.

Simplify your living and shed dependence on money as much as you can. As long as money decides your lifestyle, it will decide how you spend your time on Earth.

Be willing to go down the financial ladder. You may not afford branded clothes, expensive restaurants, travel, land, or rentals of your choice. This must not unsettle you. Society conditions us to regard these as essential to a meaningful life. In my model, these are chains to break free from.

Health and food are important. A lot of processed food is responsible for bad health, and modern medicine and hospitals are expensive. If you are not taking care of your health, you will need money for them. Western medicine, based largely on antibiotics, often causes more harm than healing, so it is important to look for natural ways to fix your health through food and diet. The freedom and quality of life we are after require good health.

Finding a thing that you enjoy is important. When you do away with the need to work for money all the time, what you save is time. But if you do not know what to do with your time, you may be disappointed. Cultivating skills you are passionate about matters. Everyone has them and it is a matter of discovering them. These skills enhance the quality and taste of your life. Music, dance, poetry, writing, traveling, or any craft serve this purpose. People also find joy and peace in purposeful work like helping the community.

People and relationships are key. The quality of relationships we have is foundational to the quality of life. These relationships exist to bring meaning, joy, and wholesomeness. It matters that these people are those you love spending time with. I don’t agree with defining relationships based on legal or blood ties; the quality is defined by the care, respect, and love we have for someone.

Life skills are important. You must learn how to live without relying on any other human being, at least in principle. While we still rely on many people, our essential daily life must be something we can sustain independently. Cooking, cleaning, fixing things, building basic shelter, growing food, keeping a pet, and taking care of another human being in need are all part of this.

I want to speak of death. In my model, acceptance of death is important. Death is a transformation from this world to another, and it has to be accepted, not frowned upon. People usually save money for their end of life, especially for medical purposes. But if you can do away with this need and simply live your life through, you can focus on living a more balanced, meaningful, and healthy life today.

Yes, there is off course more to life then what I just described. However, this is currently a model, I am looking to adopt more wholesomely.
