Mud Houses. They may seem small, unconventional and dirty, however they are the secret and the stepping stone to environmental peace ,stability and sustainability. These Mud Houses are built from natural materials such as bamboo, clay, mud itself or even lime paper in some cases. These houses aren’t used in order to benefit the environment only, but they represent deep meanings and foster an even deeper connection with us. For me, these houses represent a return to grass-root connections we have with the environment itself. They represent humility, peace, sustainability and even simplicity. Not only are they affordable, but they are an important and an integral part of creating a society where cultural/societal norms are outpaced by environmental sovereignty and significance.
Whether it’s a developing nation such as Pakistan or a self-proclaimed super power like America, we need to remember that our roots are in the ground and not in the sky. These roots exist throughout the world and reach as far down as the earth’s core itself.
Examples include eco-villages where mud houses are as common as modern houses. The Lahore Organic Village, Ejad House or Ghulkin Eco-Villages are just one of the few examples of where our roots begin to spread to those around us. Surprisingly enough, they’ve even spread beyond borders, beyond the sea and as far as the sky itself .
International eco-villages such as FinHorn,Aurville and much MUCH more foster the same level of inclusion that must be maintained in any part of the world.
So I call to those immediately close to me, among borders or those hundreds of nautical miles away from me, to host the flag raised for environmental sustainability and join us in this collective effort to save the environment. Together, one step at a time.,
